Job Brief

Future Cities for Engineering Consultations (FCEC) is looking for a skilled Surveyor with a strong background in land surveying and topographic mapping. The ideal candidate will have experience in accurately measuring, analyzing, and interpreting land surfaces for construction projects. As a surveyor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that project designs are accurate and construction activities progress smoothly.

Responsibilities

  • Topographic Surveys: Use specialized equipment like total stations, GPS receivers, and drones to conduct detailed surveys of land surfaces.
  • Data Collection and Analysis: Gather field data and analyze terrain characteristics, such as elevation, contours, and existing structures. Utilize surveying software to process and interpret data.
  • Topographic Maps: Create accurate topographic maps and digital terrain models (DTMs) for use in project planning and design.
  • Project Planning Support: Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and architects to provide essential topographic data for project planning.
  • Control Points: Establish survey control points and benchmarks to ensure consistency and accuracy throughout the project.
  • Construction Monitoring: Conduct site visits to monitor construction and verify adherence to project specifications.
  • Problem Resolution: Identify and resolve surveying-related issues that arise during construction, ensuring compliance with project plans and safety standards.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and calibration of survey equipment to ensure reliable data collection.
  • Safety Compliance: Follow safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe work environment.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • High School Diploma in surveying, geomatics, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of proven experience in land surveying and topographic mapping in the construction industry.
  • Proficiency with surveying equipment like total stations, GPS receivers, and data collectors.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
